By now almost everyone knows what they’re gonna do for Easter, but if you’re still undecided, Union Island is always a good choice. Just know that guest houses and hotels are all just about booked by now, unless you know somebody.

Take a peek at the package for Easterval in Union Island this year from March 29th to April 5th.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Association for Music Professionals held their second annual SVG AMP awards last Friday night. The whole event in an effort to recognize the achievements of our Vincentian artists.  The event in its second year did not go off without hitches but there was an improvement from last year and that’ s a good sign.

In comparison to last year’s event attendance was up and there seemed to be an effort on the part of the attendees to adhere to the dress code. The evening proceedings went on without event for the most part (save for a few blunders by the announcers).The announcement of the winners across all categories was met with applause from those in attendance with Alston Becket Cyrus recieving a full house standing ovation as he was presented with a special honors award.

The importance and appreciation for the awards show was evident as many winners and nominees took to social media to showcase their winnings and outfits for the night.

We are looking forward to bigger things from Gem for the future.

Vincentian Soca Monarch title holder, Skinny Fabulous has made it into the TnT Soca Monarch finals. His performance of ‘Going Off’ on Sunday night secured him a spot in the Groovy Soca Monarch category. The other two Vincy artist, Fya Empress and Fireman Hooper were not as successful. Congratulations to The General making it once again into the prestigious Soca competition, we wish him all the best.

The announcement was made last night via a live stream recap show with JW and Blaze. After much questionable comments about the various performances and a particularly biased take on the performance of J Angel the finalist were announced.

Fabulous would be competing against the following artist in the Groovy competition;

Farmer Nappy, Destra, Lyrikal, Blaxx, Erphaan Alves, Chow Chow, Nadia Baston, Fadda Fox, Ola, Ledpipe and Saddis, Ricardo Dru, Benji and Chucky.

Machel Montano would be defending his Power Soca title against these artist;

Blaxx, Snakey, Mr. Killa, Kitch, Squeeze Head and Shall Marshall, K I, Iwer King George, Granny, Patrice Roberts, and Shurwayne Winchester.

Notably, a top performer for the night and one of the favorites for the groovy crown, Lyrikal’s ‘Cloud 9’ was produced by Vincentian super producer  Alex “Kubiyashi” Barnwell. One of his many contributions to Carnival in TnT this year.
